There may appear some problems with the startup scripts for Unix/Linux which we will need to fix ASAP. Joe Desbonet describes the problems and how to fix them:

Those unix scripts were always problematic.

* First problem, ZIP archives do not preserve the execute flag. So you need to

  chmod a+x ./JUMPWorkbench-unix.sh

* Next problem (which is the one causing your error message) is line termination. Text files end with just LF (ASCII character 10 decimal)  in unix-like operating systems. DOS uses CR LF (ASCII character 13, followed by 10 decimal).

One simple way to 'cleanup' the script is to create a new file with your favorite editor and cut/paste the content in. Don't forget to ''chmod a+x'' your new file.

* BTW: if you are using Fedora Core 4 -- note that it comes with a Java VM bundled. This JVM (it's an opensource clean room implementation -- nothing to do with the Sun JVM) is still under development and is not likely to run Jump properly. Use the official Sun JVM.
